{"id":687,"date":"2026-08-27T00:19:18","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T05:19:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paperfoldsnews.com\/staging\/9696\/los-alebrijes-cited-for-a-dozen-violations-tipton-county-health-inspections-aug-17-21-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T00:19:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T05:19:18","slug":"los-alebrijes-cited-for-a-dozen-violations-tipton-county-health-inspections-aug-17-21-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paperfoldsnews.com\/staging\/9696\/los-alebrijes-cited-for-a-dozen-violations-tipton-county-health-inspections-aug-17-21-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Los Alebrijes cited for a dozen violations: Tipton County Health Inspections, Aug. 17-21, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tipton County&#8217;s latest round of food and facility inspections turned up one clear outlier this week: Los Alebrijes, which scored a 79 on its Aug. 19 routine inspection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inspectors documented 12 violations, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hand sanitizer used instead of handwashing between taking a customer&#8217;s payment and serving food<\/li>\n<li>Roma tomatoes stored on top of a chest freezer, outside the walk-in cooler, alongside a dirty slicer and already-cut tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>A dirty cutting board on the can-holder shelving, with a knife left on top of it<\/li>\n<li>Large pots stored directly on the dish room floor instead of on shelving<\/li>\n<li>Dried food debris built up in the meat slicer\/grinder&#8217;s feeder chamber<\/li>\n<li>No visible thermometer in the chest freezer used for ice cream<\/li>\n<li>A damp wiping cloth left out at the beverage station<\/li>\n<li>Dirty knives stored on the prep table by the walk-in cooler<\/li>\n<li>An ice scoop stored directly on top of the ice machine instead of in a clean container<\/li>\n<li>Food debris hanging from walk-in cooler shelving, and a sticky ice machine lid<\/li>\n<li>An employee&#8217;s drink, with a lid, stored inside a reach-in freezer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Follow-up inspections<\/h2>\n<p>Two other Tipton County establishments returned for follow-up inspections this week and left with dramatically improved numbers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Little Angels Learning Center<\/strong> (food service, Atoka): 95 \u2192 100 on its Aug. 19 follow-up, with no violations found on the recheck.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Casa Mexicana<\/strong> (Atoka): 92 \u2192 97 between its routine and follow-up visits on Aug. 18, closing out issues with food thermometers, utensil storage, and general facility upkeep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.paperfoldsnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2-3.png?ssl=1\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1785\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.paperfoldsnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2-3.png?resize=780%2C975&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"975\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>This week&#8217;s other inspections<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hard Luck 13 Tattoo Studio<\/strong> (Atoka) \u2014 100 \u2014 No violations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vince Bell&#8217;s Lucky Devil Tattoo<\/strong> (Atoka) \u2014 100 \u2014 No violations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TNT Bar B Que<\/strong> (mobile, Mason) \u2014 99 \u2014 Missing drainboard at three-compartment sink.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Theo &amp; Roe&#8217;s Ice Cream Parlor<\/strong> (Covington) \u2014 99 \u2014 Missing drainboard.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Breakfast Cove LLC<\/strong> (Covington) \u2014 99 \u2014 Improperly nested plastic cups.<\/li>\n<li><strong>DOUBLE D&#8217;s<\/strong> (mobile, Atoka) \u2014 98 \u2014 Broken freezer thermometer; missing drainboard.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Little Angels Learning Center \u2014 Child Care<\/strong> (Atoka) \u2014 Approval \u2014 Water temperature briefly outside the required range in one room; corrected on site.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Applebee&#8217;s-IHOP<\/strong> (Covington) \u2014 93 \u2014 See below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applebee&#8217;s-IHOP<\/strong>&#8216;s 93 came with the week&#8217;s most detailed citation: a rail-top cooler on the prep line couldn&#8217;t reliably hold temperature-sensitive food at a safe temperature due to a heat lamp positioned above it, prompting staff to voluntarily discard diced cucumbers, diced tomatoes, coleslaw and sour cream during the visit.<\/p>\n<p>Other citations included flies entering through a propped-open back door, wet-nested plastic containers, plates stored food-side up, and a severely gouged cutting board.
