Holly Grove Road is set to be paved next week – here’s what you need to know

Holly Grove Road will be paved next week.

The City of Covington will mill and repave the entire stretch of Holly Grove Road inside city limits next week, starting at the Hwy. 51 intersection — where state crews left off — and running to the end of city limits, just east of Kimbrough.

Climer Paving is handling the project.

Public Works Director Tim Haynes said milling starts Thursday, June 11, and wraps Friday, June 12. Paving begins Monday, June 15, and should take three to four days depending on weather. New lane striping will follow within a day or two after paving is complete.

What you need to know

  • The road stays open, but expect one-lane traffic with flaggers during both milling and paving.
  • You can still get to your home. Residents will have access to their properties throughout the project.
  • Move your trash cans before Thursday. The city is making sure curbside pickup on Holly Grove is done by Wednesday, June 10.
  • Keep vehicles off the road. Cars and equipment should stay on the right-of-way — not on the road surface — while work is happening.

This is the only road being paved before the city’s budget year ends in June. Future paving projects will be shaped by a city-approved Road Study, which will create a priority list for road and sidewalk repairs in the 2026-27 budget year.
