The Atoka BBQ Fest returns for two days of MBN-sanctioned BBQ competition, vendor booths, live music, a kids’ fun zone, and free pulled pork tasting on Saturday from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Public challenges — Signature Cocktail (Friday), Bloody Mary, Grilled Cheese, and Mayor’s Pie (Saturday) — are $10 each and open to everyone, and the Friday night Corn Hole Tournament offers cash payouts with no pre-registration required. Admission to the festival is free.

If you’ve ever wanted to step into the spotlight, here’s your chance — The Ruffin Theater is holding auditions for Hairspray: The Broadway Musical, with show dates set for late July and August. Friday’s mandatory dance call runs 5–7 p.m., and Saturday’s voice and acting auditions go from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.; all auditions are held at the Covington Civic Center. All experience levels are welcome, ages 15 and up, and people of color are strongly encouraged to audition to authentically represent this beloved story.
